What is a domain lease?
A domain lease is a service that allows you to use a domain for a specified monthly fee without transferring the title to a domain. A lease is an alternative to buying a domain, which means that if you do not want to buy a domain right away, you can lease it so that you will be able to build a website at the domain or use it in any other way.
When initiating a lease transaction, the lessor determines the amount of monthly rent, the duration of the lease (definite or indefinite) as well as the possibility and the period of notice of the lease.
The lease also allows the lessee to exercise the so-called pre-emptive right, i.e. to buy a domain at a specified price. This is a very attractive form of purchasing a domain, since, if you are not sure whether the domain name suits your needs, you can lease it first, and purchase it after the test period at an agreed price.
