Why do the defined DNS entries not work correctly?
Setting the DNS entries is an advanced operation, where you can easily make an error. If your DNS setup does not work or you receive error messages when adding DNS entries, check the following list of the most common errors made when changing DNS entries:
1. Make sure that you are using the correct type of DNS entry. Users often confuse A, MX and CNAME entries. Using an incorrect type of entry will cause the incorrect configuration of the domain.
What do the individual types of DNS entries mean?
2. Check if you are filling in the fields "Host name" and "Value" correctly. The first and the second field should contain the name of the subdomain in your domain and the destination address, respectively. If you swap these values, the domain will be configured incorrectly.
3. Enter only the name of the subdomain in the "Host name" field. For example, if you define an entry for a subdomain mail.domain.pl, a correct subdomain name is"mail" and it should be placed in the "Host name" field.
4. If you want to create an entry for the master domain (for instance the MX entry for domain.pl), leave the "Host name" fields blank.
5. Remember that a DNS entry applies only to a subdomain with a specific name. For instance, if you are creating an A entry that directs a domain to an IP address, only the subdomain with the specified name will be redirected. If you want to redirect the entire domain, use the special host name "*" (asterisk), which means "all subdomains in a given domain".
6. If you are defining an entry with a host name "*", remember that it applies only to subdomains, not to the main domain. Usually, in such case, it is necessary to add a second entry with an empty host name to also ensure the redirection of the master domain.
Since setting the DNS entries, it takes some time for DNS entries to be visible on the Internet. If you have changed the entries in the last few minutes, they may not yet be visible.
When will the added DNS entry be visible on the Internet?
